Announcements
CDMS License Key
The 25R1 release includes an updated method of verifying EDC and CDB study licenses for non-ELA (Enterprise License Agreement) customers. The updated method utilizes study-specific license keys now included on the sales order form. Prior to the initial Production deployment of a study, customers will enter the study license key in the designated field in EDC Tools in the DEV Vault. Casebook validations will verify that the entered value matches the stored license key, at which point the study will be eligible for deployment to Production.
This change avoids challenges some customers experienced when a study name used in EDC is different from the one used in contracting. Studies already deployed to Production at the time of the 25R1 release will automatically move to the new model without any impact to study activities.
CDB Pre-release window extended to 4 weeks before General Availability
The CDB pre-release window has been extended.
Vault Platform New Security Profile
In 25R1, the Vault platform will release a new security policy called Configuration Only. In CDMS, a user with this profile (set through Vault Admin), is not able to view any CDMS study objects, so they will not see any studies, study design, or users in CDMS System Tools. They can see Vault settings and view user information in Admin. Several pages may return an error when trying to load.
In a future release, Veeva CDMS may use this security policy to create a Read-Only Vault Owner type user, but for now this is just a Vault option to give Vault Administrators access without giving them the ability to view any clinical data.
MySQL8 Upgrade
With the 25R2 release, CDB will upgrade the MySQL version from MySQL5.7 to MySQL8.0
With this upgrade, please consider the following behavior changes for MySQL8.0:
- MySQL8.0 will no longer allow the comparison of a string value to a date or datetime without converting the string to a date/datetime.
- Casting a number as decimal will require passing an additional argument for precision. Not doing so will result in a loss of decimal precision.
- MySQL8.0 will no longer automatically strip trailing or leading spaces found in string literals.
- If a string that includes timezone offset is passed to the date_format function, then timezone conversion will be honored.
