Announcements
MySQL Upgrade
As previously announced, CDB Workbench and Clinical Reporting will be upgrading the MySQL version from MySQL5.7 to MySQL8.0 with the 25R2 release.
There will be downtime for the upgrade to your instance, which will happen in the interim between 25R2 and 25R3, starting in September. Veeva will communicate the timing of the upgrade two weeks prior for downtime awareness.
Certain Workbench listings may no longer be valid after the upgrade.
Please note the following behavior changes with MySQL8.0:
- MySQL8.0 will no longer allow the comparison of a string value to a date or datetime without converting the string to a date/datetime.
- Casting a number as a decimal will require passing an additional argument for precision. Not doing so will result in a loss of decimal precision.
- MySQL8.0 will no longer automatically strip trailing or leading spaces found in string literals.
- If a string that includes timezone offset is passed to the
date_format
function, then timezone conversion will be honored.
API update to all versions: New “Decommissioned” Billing Status blocks Casebook creation via Create Subjects (Casebooks) endpoint
This release includes a critical update regarding casebook creation through the Create Subjects (Casebooks) endpoint.
A new billing status – Decommissioned – has been introduced. If a study is set to the Decommissioned billing status, you will no longer be able to create casebooks via the API.
This change applies to all API versions.
If you create casebooks using an API integration, note the new billing status dependency.
Timezone for Lab Locations
As part of the 25R2 enhancements to support Unknown time for normal range effective datetimes, a timezone field is being added to lab location records. At the time of release, this field, where applicable, will be populated based on the entered address information for the Lab Location as of May 30th, 2025. Otherwise, the timezone of the study sites associated with the lab will be used. The vault timezone will be used if there is no associated study site.
Timezones can be updated after the release, using the lab location import functionality which has been enhanced to support updates to existing lab locations. We highly recommend reviewing all timezones for your lab locations after the release, and updating as necessary. Review the release note for more details about this feature.
Deprecation of v23.2 CDB Query API Version in 25R3
Starting with the 25R3 release, we plan to support two CDB API versions for the Queries domain: v24.3 and v25.3. Users using any of the CDB Query APIs must upgrade to v24.3 prior to the release, until the version v25.3 is available in December.
CDB APIs maintain two active versions per API domain.
