CDB Icon Reference

The tables below detail cell highlights, decorations, status, function, and navigation icons displayed in CDB Workbench. This isn’t an exhaustive collection, rather it focuses on visual indicators that convey status or appear on their own without accompanying text.

General

These icons appear in the top navigation bar and throughout Workbench.

Icon Name Meaning
Search

Allows you to search across all entries, depending on where you are in the application. Workbench searches as you type.

Show More

In the top navigation bar, this icon allows you to switch applications (for example, switching between EDC and Workbench).

Navigation Drawer

Allows you to switch between pages, such as Studies, Listings, and Queries.

Star Outline

Opens the Favorites menu.

Question

Navigates to the Veeva Clinical Data Help Site.

Profile

Displays logged in profile information and allows you to sign out of the application.

Add

In the top navigation bar, this icon opens the Listing Builder menu.

Info

Opens either a tooltip with more information or navigates to a resource on the Veeva Clinical Data Help Site.

Cell Highlighting

Highlighted cells on the Listings page enable you to quickly scan results and gain key insights.

Icon Name Meaning
Solid Gray

Solid gray cells indicate that the visit did not occur or the form is not complete.

Solid Yellow

Solid yellow cells indicate where data was not entered or an overdue visit.

Gray with Stripes

Gray cells with stripes indicate that a field was Intentionally Left Blank (ILB).

Dashes

Any fields with dashes indicates that the field is not applicable.

CDB Query Status

Cell query decoration icons on the Listings page allow you to identify the status of a query.

Icon Name Meaning
Query

Indicates an open query that has not been addressed.

Answer Query

Indicates a query that has been addressed and ready to be viewed and closed as appropriate.

Closed Query

Indicates a closed query that requires no further action or discussion.

Calendar Query

Indicates a query on an Event Date.

Cell Details Panel

The Cell Details Panel allows you to view contextual information and review statuses about individual EDC Items (from forms). It can be accessed by clicking on any cell in the listing results.

Icon Name Meaning
Subject

The automatically generated EDC subject ID.

Event

The EDC event name and date.

Item

The EDC item name.

SDV

Indicates a status of SDV.

DMR

Indicates a status of DMR.

Signed

Indicates a status of signed.

Frozen

Indicates a status of frozen.

Unlocked

Indicates a status of unlocked.

Locked

Indicates a status of locked.

Opens a source link to review the form in EDC.

Listings

These icons pertain to listing management.

Icon Name Meaning
Filter

Displays the filtering and sorting menu.

Ascending

Appears after clicking the Filter icon and applies an ascending sort order.

Descending

Appears after clicking the Filter icon and applies a descending sort order.

Star Filled

Indicates a favorited listing.

Delta (Change)

Appears next to a row’s review status to indicate that the data in that row has changed since a review status was last applied.

Invalid

Indicates an invalid listing. You cannot edit the properties of a listing that is invalid.

View

Indicates a restricted listing.

Observations

Data management teams use observations to collaborate on discrepancies before generating a formal query. Observation decorations appear at both the row and cell levels in Workbench.

Icon Name Meaning
Open

Indicates an Open observation that has not been addressed. This is the status assigned to all newly created observations.

Pending

Indicates a Pending observation.

Open and Pending

Indicates an Open and Pending observation. This occurs when a row and/or cell has at least one Open and at least one Pending observation.

CDB doesn’t display decorations for observations in the Closed status, but you can still see them in the details panel.

Imports

These icons pertain to Import management.

Icon Name Meaning
Third Party Data

Indicates a third-party data import.

Upload

In the top navigation bar, this icon opens the CDB Package Loader.

Exports

These icons pertain to Export management.

Icon Name Meaning
Clock

Indicates that the specific definition has scheduled exports set up.

View Issue Log

Allows you to view a list of errors if the export package generation fails.

Studies

These icons are unique to the Studies section of Workbench.

Icon Name Meaning
Deployment

Indicates that deployment is enabled.

Copy

Indicates that cloning is enabled.

Query Details

Hovering over this icon provides information regarding user listing access. For example, Access to Source Specified Core Query Listings.

Protocol Deviation

There is least one Protocol Deviation on the Subject, Event, Form, or Item.

Locked

Indicates that the Study is locked.
