Listings Overview

Listings enable users to review study data from different perspectives, utilizing customization, sorting, and filtering options. The Listings page in Workbench provides access to various listing types and categories. The four main categories are Review, Core, Public, and Private.

Within those categories are different listing types, including system-generated listings, Custom Listings, and Review Listings.

System-generated listings consist of the following:

  • Core Listings
  • System Listings
  • Query Listings

Core Listings

Core listings are ready-made templates for each form in a study, automatically created by CDB during data import. Super Users, Vault Owners, and others with custom permissions can modify core listings at the vault-level. Core listings can be configured in the Configurations section, including defining header columns, and core defaults.

System Listings

System listings are automatically created by CDB for raw-type export packages. These listings only expose contextual study information, without any collected data.

You can access system listings from Export **> **Definitions.

Query Listings

Query listings provide a central location for all queries in a study, both manual and system queries. You can locate them via study name or by using the Navigation Drawer.

Workbench allows for data cleaning and querying from multiple sources. By default, it includes query listings for each Source in your study and labels them accordingly. For example, if your study has two sources, EDC and Labs, Workbench generates two sets of listings and labels them with the source name. Query listings cannot be saved as public or private.

Query listings show information for each query, including form name, item name, query age, query message, etc. Queries and responses are shown in the Query Details panel.

There are three query listing categories:

  • Closed Queries: Lists all queries in the Closed status from the data source in your Study.
  • Outstanding Queries: Lists all queries in the Open or Answered statuses from the data source in your Study.
  • Query Messages: Lists all queries from the data source in your _Study. _Includes all comments and the status of the query at the time of the comment on individual rows.

Custom Listings

Custom listings are user-defined listings that display data based on your preferences. These listings can be public or private. You can view saved public listings from other users in the study. Once you mark a listing as private you’re the only one that can view it.

Reference Objects

Reference objects are specialized datasets ingested into CDB for cleaning and exporting purposes, alongside clinical data. You can import non-clinical data via reference objects. Keys are defined for each object to relate it to clinical data. A reference object can have up to four (4) keys. Some CQL limitations apply when working with reference objects.

Restricted Data

CDB only displays restricted or blinded data to users with the Restricted Data Access permission. This permission is granted by default to the standard CDMS Lead Data Manager study role. If you’re a blinded user (you don’t have the Restricted Data Access permission), Workbench will not display restricted Items in listings.
