Configuring Signature Definitions in Business Admin

In order for your Investigators to provide eSignatures, you must configure a Signature Definition object record related to your Study.

Note that users with the ability to access Studio can perform this configuration from Studio > Settings. See details in Managing Studies & Study Settings.

Configuring the Signature Definition Object

First, you must configure the Signature Definition object to display in the Business Admin menu:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Objects > Signature Definition and click Edit.
  2. Select the Display in Business Admin menu checkbox.
  3. Click Save.

Creating & Editing Signature Definitions

Once the Signature Definition object is available in the Business Admin menu, you can create or edit Signature Definition records related to your Study.

  1. Navigate to Admin > Business Admin > Signature Definitions.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Enter the Meaning of the required signature.
  4. Select a signature Methodology from the drop-down list.
  5. Select a Study to which the Signature Definition will be related.
  6. Click Save. Vault creates your Signature Definition.

Editing a Signature Definition

To edit an existing Signature Definition record, open the record from the Signature Definitions page and click Edit. On this screen, you can set the record to Inactive, update the Meaning or Methodology, and change the Study related to the Signature Definition.

Which permissions control your access depends on when your vault was created. If your vault uses the Role by Study feature, see the first section, Role by Study Permissions. If your vault does not use the CDMS Role by Study feature, see the second section, Profile Permissions.

Role by Study Permissions

Users with the standard Vault Owner or Design security profiles can perform the actions described above by default. If your vault uses custom security profiles, you must have the permissions described in the Profile Permissions table.

The actions described above are available to users with the Vault Owner security profile. If your vault uses custom security profiles, you must have the following permissions:
